At Forming Connections, our aim is to re-engage children with learning by supporting both them and the adults around them through a solution-focused, relational approach grounded in neuroscience. Our approach is inclusive and adaptable, making it suitable for all learners—whether they are out of school due to a lack of appropriate placement or because of Emotional Based School Avoidance (EBSA). We work with children of all ages and abilities, including those with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND).
Supporting Local Authorities - Section 19 of the Education Act
At Forming Connections, we offer a specialist service that supports local authorities in fulfilling their duties under Section 19 of the Education Act 1996. This legislation requires local authorities to make suitable educational arrangements for children of compulsory school age who are unable to attend school due to illness, exclusion, or other circumstances.
Supporting Schools or APs – Parent/Carer and Child Re-engagement
At Forming Connections, we support schools facing challenges with Emotional Based School Avoidance (EBSA) and attendance. We offer a targeted six-week programme working directly with parents/carers and their child to focus on co-regulation, re-engagement, and building self-esteem. Our aim is to help the child re-engage with learning and support a successful transition back into school or suitable alternative provision, including guidance around temporary part-time timetables where appropriate.
